Job Title: Health and Safety Manager
Locations: Hove and London
Type: Permanent, Full Time

About the Role:

RPS are looking to appoint a Health Safety Manager to work within a SHE team to deliver an effective Health and Safety competent person and advisory service to a multinational financial services company to the highest level of professional standards, advising and assisting the client to maintain HSE compliance across its portfolio of offices and business areas.

Main Responsibilities:

- Provide H&S competent person support, identifying and managing risks and improvement opportunities
- Provide guidance and advice to support designated competent persons to achieve H&S compliance in other business areas of the client's operation, including some construction-based activities in the housing sector
- Collation of Group data, strategy development and provide direction for H&S management practices
- Work collaboratively with the client's designated HSE personnel, H&S committees and appointed Facilities Management provider
- Maintain and update the H&S management system in various office locations
- Create and drive the agenda for the Group H&S committee, in collaboration with the Chair of the committee
- Develop objectives and target setting, including performance tracking, with the aim of improving H&S performance
- Review and develop health and safety policies and procedures
- Proactively manage H&S support requests, supporting the local Facilities Management personnel to address identified issues
- Maintain an up to date professional knowledge in all areas of H&S legislation, standards, guidelines and codes of practice and ensuring changes are reflected in internal ways of working
- Management and development of additional imbedded H&S Consultant
- Presentation of H&S data from Group business areas at Group H&S committee meetings, providing oversight and governance on H&S performance throughout the Group
- Support the Group in discussions with enforcement agencies

Skills/Experience Required:

- Diploma/Degree level qualification in Occupational Safety, with around 10 years relevant experience
- GradIOSH minimum or working towards CMIOSH or equivalent
- Up to date with legislative changes and best practice developments
- H&S Construction knowledge
- Experience in the provision of all aspects of H&S within a corporate environment with a detailed understanding of all relevant statutory requirements
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant notifications, applications, and H&S Standards relevant to own area of activity
- Ability for team working, influencing and networking
- Good problem solving with an acute attention to detail
- Excellent communicator with well-developed interpersonal skills across all levels of management
