As our business grows and continues to develop, we are looking to reinforce our Building Services team with the appointment of an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer. Duties / Responsibilities:

- Carrying out detailed Electrical Building Services Design Engineering on new build and refurbishment construction projects.
- Undertake feasibility studies, concept and scheme design stages
- Attend design team and client team meetings.
- Inspect and report on electrical building services systems.
- Work will either be undertaken independently or in conjunction with an Electrical Associate assisting in the survey, design, specification and contract administration process of the projects.
- Utilise Building Services software for calculations.
- Undertake Electrical design work consisting of surveys, design, drawings and specifications for projects. Work in conjunction with other design team members as required as part of an overall project team. Ensure the design and maintenance of building systems meets legislative and health and safety requirements
- Produce marked up drawings for CAD by others or direct CAD design drawings for issue.
- Select and specify products, equipment and installation standards relating to Electrical services suitable for the costing and installation by Contractors.
- Attend project design meetings, technical meetings, value engineering workshops, and risk workshops as required by the project.
- Attend site as part of the construction phase activities of projects and participate in site meetings. Assist in the preparation of snagging lists, valuations (if required) and end of defects inspections as required.
- Undertake surveys and reports for the company in independently or in conjunction with more senior staff including Feasibility studies, and Condition Surveys and generate reports meeting the company report format.

Qualifications:

- Qualifications commensurate with the Underpinning and Knowledge Requirements for Chartered Engineer aligned to either IET or CIBSE requirements.
- Or on a path to or desire to gain that level of understanding.

Essential Skills:

- Ability to design principle electrical systems taken from a concept level of design through to detailed design (BSRIA BG6 Stage 4A) including:
o Low voltage electrical distribution from incoming supply through to final circuit to BS7671.
o Internal, external and emergency lighting to CIBSE Lighting guides.
o Small power and fixed power.
o Power supplies for mechanical and fixed power supplies.
o Fire Alarm and detection.
o ICT structured cabling
o Cable containment related to the above systems.
- Use of Amtech.
- Ability to view and interpret drawings in AutoCad.
- Understanding of Building Regulations Part L compliance associated with the systems above.
- Use of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel

Desirable Skills:

The following will be part of the candidate's development and on the project training will be provided if these competencies need developing:
- Ability to design principle electrical systems taken from a concept level of design through to detailed design (BSRIA BG6 Stage 4A) including:
o Security systems of CCTV, intruder alarm and access control.
o Knowledge of the wiring requirements of BS 7671 Section 710 medical locations.
o Nurse Call system design
o Ability to view and interpret drawings in Revit
- Use of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
