As our business grows and continues to develop, we are looking to reinforce our Building Services team with the appointment of an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer. Duties / Responsibilities:

- Carrying out detailed Mechanical Building Services Design Engineering on new build and refurbishment construction projects.
- Undertake feasibility studies, concept and scheme design stages
- Attend design team and client team meetings.
- Inspect and report on mechanical building services systems.
- Work will either be undertaken independently or in conjunction with senior staff assisting in the survey, design, specification and contract administration process of the projects.
- Utilise Building Services software for calculations.
- Undertake Mechanical design work consisting of surveys, design, drawings and specifications for projects. Work in conjunction with other design team members as required as part of an overall project team. Ensure the design and maintenance of building systems meets legislative and health and safety requirements
- Produce marked up drawings for CAD by others or direct CAD design drawings for issue.
- Select and specify products, equipment and installation standards relating to Mechanical services suitable for the costing and installation by Contractors.
- Attend project design meetings, technical meetings, value engineering workshops, and risk workshops as required by the project.
- Attend site as part of the construction phase activities of projects and participate in site meetings. Assist in the preparation of snagging lists, valuations (if required) and end of defects inspections as required.
- Undertake surveys and reports for the company in independently or in conjunction with more senior staff including Feasibility studies, and Condition Surveys and generate reports meeting the company report format.
- Review and interpretation of external consultants' deliverables e.g. thermal modelling, Part L reports, overheating, CFD etc.
- Assessment of energy and utility demands and associated liaison with utility providers
- Strategic Masterplanning of sitewide utilities and services


- Qualifications commensurate with the Underpinning and Knowledge Requirements for Chartered Engineer aligned to either IET or CIBSE requirements.
- Or on a path to or desire to gain that level of understanding.

Essential Skills:
- Ability to design principle mechanical systems taken from a concept level of design through to detailed design (BSRIA BG6 Stage 4A) including:
o Ventilation design
o Air conditioning design
o Comfort cooling design
o Chilled water
o Domestic hot and cold water systems / Public Health
o Heating systems
o Above Ground drainage
o HVAC control principles
- Ability to view and interpret drawings in AutoCAD.
- Understanding of Building Regulations Part L compliance associated with the systems above.
- Use of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
- Use of Hevacomp / IES or equivalent

Desirable Skills:

The following will be part of the candidate's development and on the project training will be provided if these competencies need developing:
- Ability to design principle mechanical systems taken from a concept level of design through to detailed design (BSRIA BG6 Stage 4A) including:
o Ability to view and interpret drawings in Revit
o Medical gases, Vacuum, Compressed Air
o Ability to view and interpret drawings in Revit
o Basic knowledge of electrical services
- Use of CAD, Revit
