Position: .Net Developer
Based: Edinburgh
Type: Permanent, Full Time

About the role

RPS is going through an exciting period of transformation. The Global Technology Team is responsible for the delivery of Technology services to the rest of the company.
We are currently in the process of establishing our development as a Service global development team to increase efficiency and responsiveness across our development capabilities and products by leveraging our global strengths to uncover new opportunities and markets.
We are now recruiting for an experienced .Net Developer to join our Edinburgh team. You will be responsible for the design and implementation of new functionality, the implementation of enhancements for existing technology and high-level testing and support. To achieve this, you will use a wide variety of technologies including C#, ASP .NET, ASP .NET Web API and SQL.
We are particularly interested in Developers with a personal commitment to delivering high quality software solutions. You should also want to progress your own knowledge, skills and personal development.

About you
It is Essential that you bring the following skills:
- A degree in Computing Science / Software Engineering or equivalent experience
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to recognise and resolve problems quickly and efficiently
- The ability to understand the key aspects of service-oriented cloud architectures
- 2 to 5 years C# and SQL experience
- Experience writing REST APIs and web services

Desirable experience of the following would be a bonus:
- Agile Development (SCRUM)
- Experience with multi-tenant architectures
- GIS Technologies

It is also a requirement that you bring knowledge of the following:
- Knowledge in DevOps methodology
- Knowledge in developing in a micro architecture environment (containerisation)
- Knowledge of client-side JavaScript applications using frameworks like Angular, Knockout, Ember (Angular preferred)
- Knowledge of web-based mapping API?s such as ESRI ArcGIS API for Javascript or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of client-side technologies like Windows Forms.
- Experience working with source control systems (Git preferred) and build automation (Microsoft Visual Studio Online)
