Senior Environmental Consultant (Permitting and Compliance)
Brighton, Bristol

Position: Senior Environmental Consultant
Location: Bristol or Brighton
Type: Permanent

The Position:

RPS? are looking for an experienced environmental professional to join our Permitting and Compliance Team. Commitment to environmental protection is fundamental in development and industrial activity around the world. We pride ourselves on achieving effective environmental protection outcomes and aim to make sure that our clients have the required support, verifications, and permits to ensure compliance throughout a project?s lifecycle. This position supports a variety of clients in waste management, conventional and renewable energy, oil and gas and other industrial businesses. We can base the role in either Bristol or Brighton and there may be some travel required to support clients elsewhere in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:
? Play a direct role in acquiring environmental permits, licenses, and approvals from regulatory agencies in support of projects
? Manage and supervise permitting support to range of projects delivered by the Environment Permitting and Compliance Team.
? Ensure quality advice is provided and work meets the required standard
? Manage own client projects ensuring key objectives and deadlines are met
? Take responsibility for specific projects, monitoring both performance, finances and feedback
? Quality control the output of projects in accordance with the approved QA system including preparing project plans and fee agreements
? Support and mentor junior members of staff where relevant.

Ideal Skills/Experience
? MSc in environmental discipline
? Direct working experience of environmental regulation, permitting issues and liaising with regulators
? Understanding of pertinent environmental legislation, regulations, and guidance documents to ensure and/or enforce project-specific compliance
? Strong communication (verbal and technical writing) skills.
? Good financial and project management skills
? Ability to build and maintain working relationships both internally and externally
? Ability to identify opportunities for securing new business / clients
? Responsible for contributing towards own professional development
? Strong problem-solving skills.
? Knowledge of BAT
