Senior Town Planner
Edinburgh


RPS is a leading Town Planning and environmental consultancy in the UK and Ireland, founded in 1970. Today we work across six sectors: property, energy, transport, water, resources, defence and government services.

Our Town Planners have the skills and experience to navigate through complex planning and environmental legislation, they have been relied upon by clients to provide innovative approaches to obtaining planning consents for all types of development.

In order to capitalise on the continued growth of our planning business we are seeking to hire a Senior Planner to contribute to the development of our Scottish consultancy team.

Operating out of our Edinburgh office, you will help us drive the business forward by taking ownership of existing RPS projects. Whilst working collaboratively with our local specialists in environmental impact assessment, ecology, heritage, transport, contaminated land and the marine environment.

This role will see you taking ownership of project work packages and make a real contribution to the delivery of some of the most exciting new projects. All whilst working alongside and supporting the Planning Associates and Directors.

The main responsibilities for this role include:
• Delivery of expert planning advice to private and/or public sector clients
• Lead and deliver projects to a high standard within the client’s timescales and budgets
• Work alongside other environmental and multi-disciplinary technical specialists to ensure project delivery across multiple skill boundaries
• To actively identify and deliver new business opportunities, alongside enhancing existing client relationships

The Skills, Experience & Qualifications you will require are:
• An appropriate planning or environmental degree
• Full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute
• Evidence of strong technical expertise in town planning
• Proven track record in the management and co-ordination of consent applications for major development projects
• Experience of managing EIAs and working with experts in related specialist disciplines
