HR Advisor (8 month FTC)

Position: HR Advisor
Type: 8 Month Fixed Term Contract (Nov 2019 – June 2020)
Based: Flexible Location

The Position:
RPS is looking for an experienced, CIPD Qualified HR Advisor to join us on a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave, from November 2019 with commitment till June 2020. Our officesare based in various locations and will require you to travel when necessary.

This role is responsible for providing pragmatic and pro-active day-to-day employee relations support and guidance to RPS’s Line Managers, covering all areas of the employee lifecycle including performance, disciplinary, grievances, maternity/paternity, absence and restructuring. You’ll work in partnership with the business to provide strong professional HR advice and support to the business. Acting as an ambassador for the business, the role will involve working on your own initiative and being pro-active in the day to day management of all employees to enable the business to manage effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide proactive advisory services to line managers on a range of human resources issues, employee life cycle procedures and policies consistent with employee standards, legislation and guidelines.
• Provide effective advice to ensure that line managers guidance is in line with employment law, case law and best practice.
• Liaise with external agencies/ functions such as legal, local union representatives and Unum regarding the people issues related to procedures and policies and ensure that line managers work within the defined policy & procedures.
• Work with management teams to agree and implement strategies that support business objectives.
• Manage end-to-end and timely closure of employee relations cases.
• Provide support in the delivery of people management training, redundancy consultations, TUPE and organisational design where required.
• Coordinate and participate in monthly case reviews with the HR Team to identify key themes for improvement and identification of issues and trends within the business.
• Build effective relationships with MD’s, OD’s and Line Managers in order to understand priorities and objectives relating to employee recruitment and performance.
• Support Line managers and the Recruitment team during the interview and selection process.
• Support the embedding of the company-wide appraisal process including the delivery of appraisal training. (Progress@RPS).
• Support Line Managers with all employee relations matters, performance management cases and where necessary effectively plan and conduct disciplinary meetings.
• Manage staff absence and carry out return to work interviews, conduct exit interviews as and when required.
• Coach, support and build capability in line managers to manage the employment relationship effectively and guide managers on HR policy queries
• Provide support in grievance and disciplinary hearings
• Support change initiatives, including acquisitions, restructures, redundancies, TUPE, redeployment and office closures
• Build strong professional relationships with key stakeholders with regular professional liaison and establish yourself as a credible partner.
• Work with the HRD to provide commercially focused advice and support to Managers on all Employee Relations issues.
• Produce Monthly HR report and HR statistics for HR and MDs.
• Seek commercial resolutions to Employment Tribunals and to manage relationship with solicitors and ACAS.

Skills & Expertise we need you to have:
• CIPD Qualified
• Proven track record of building strong relationships across the business to deliver an effective HR Service across the employee lifecycle.
• Experience of working in Professional services is preferable with a generalist HR background and a proven track record of delivering high-quality, tailored HR Support.
• Up to date understanding of employment law and HR Best Practice.
• Practical experience of managing complex ER cases including redundancies, disciplinary, grievance, performance management and Sickness absence management.
• Commercial and practical approach to providing business solutions.
• Resilient and self-reliant with the ability to work in a self-sufficient manner
• Ability to demonstrate presence and credibility when dealing with key stakeholders.
• Experience of delivering change in complex and demanding environments.
• Able to travel across UK locations
