Sustainability Consultant

Position: Consultant – Energy and Sustainability Team
Location: Central London
Type: Permanent

The Vacancy:

RPS is looking for a Consultant to join our Built Energy and Sustainability Team based at our new flagship office in Central London. We have a highly regarded, well established and dynamic team who provide energy and sustainability assessments on new, existing and operational buildings. We provide a range of assessments (Energy Reports, Overheating Assessments, Daylight Analysis, BREEAM Assessments, Sustainability Statements) to a multitude of clients. Responsibilities include the completion of energy calculations and sustainability assessments, data interpretation and analysis, site visits and surveys, regulatory consultations and report writing.

Our award winning team includes Energy and BREEAM assessors and the candidate should have a similar academic background. The individual should have an excellent technical understanding and solid experience in energy and sustainability assessments in the built environment, particularly in the context of new and existing buildings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Delivery of Energy and Sustainability assessments on new, existing and operational buildings.
• Carry out site visit and surveys
• Report writing and reviewing both on a technical and commercial level

Ideal Qualifications:
• BSc / BEng in Building Services, Environmental Science/Engineering, Architecture
• MSc / MEng would be advantageous
• Accredited or working towards accreditation for OCDEA/NDEA or BREEAM

Essential Skills:
• Solid understanding of sustainability, energy technologies and building physics.
• Experience of carrying out energy and sustainability assessments on a range of projects, preferably within a consultancy context.
• Working knowledge of IES software
• Experience in carrying out Energy (SAP, SBEM) calculations and Energy Reports for planning purposes. (Experience of thermal bridging would be advantageous).
• Sustainability (BREEAM, Sustainability Statements) assessments Preparation of technical reports
• Passionate and informed knowledge on energy and sustainability issues
• Demonstrable solid technical knowledge of current and future legislation in relation to UK law and best practice – especially NPPF, Part L and London Plan.
