Associate Town Planner

RPS Birmingham City Centre Town Planning team are seeking to recruit an Associate Town Planner to capitalise on the continued growth of our planning business.

This role will see you undertake town planning instructions including strategic site promotion and immediate planning applications. With responsibility and autonomy to deliver exciting projects to support the development of all forms of property and infrastructure. Coupled with maintaining and developing client relationships and aiding the Director on mentoring of junior staff.

To assist you in successfully fulfilling your role, you will be given the tools you need to succeed, and you will benefit from the support of our other local specialists in environmental impact assessment, ecology, heritage, transport, contaminated land and Project Management.

Main Responsibilities:
• Promoting clients land interest through planning applications or development plan process
• Liaising with clients, professional team, local authorities and statutory consultees and member of the public
• Oversee and coordinate all sized projects including coordinating project finances, overseeing the production of deliverables in line with the client’s expectations and ensuring delivery is on time
• Develop internal relationships with multi-disciplinary colleagues
• Prepare fee proposals and provide input into tender submissions
• Ensure that projects are managed to ensure good profitability including financial control and billing
• Represent the company at external meetings as required
• Assist Planning Directors where applicable on project management of multi-disciplinary teams

Skills, experience and qualifications required:
• Hold full membership to the RTPI or equivalent
• Prior work experience within a town planning environment
• Deep expertise of a technical discipline including the current methods, legislation, techniques and guidance
• Report writing skills; the ability to develop and express an argument clearly and concisely
• Experience of maintain strong working relationships with existing clients
