JOB TITLE: Principal & Senior Water Resource Modeller

CONTRACT STATUS: Specific Purpose (Likely duration 24 Months)




RPS is seeking highly motivated Principal Water Resource Modeller & Senior Water Quality Modeller to join our water services team secondment roles in the Dublin region. The successful candidates will support the delivery of National Water Resource Plan for the water industry.

Principal Water Resource Modeller should have a relevant third level qualification (Degree/Masters) and a minimum of 20 years’ post qualification relevant experience in the water industry or other utilities.

Senior Water Quality Modeller should have a relevant third level qualification (Degree/Masters) and a minimum of 10 years’ post qualification relevant experience in the water industry or other utilities.


Desirable skills for the roles

• Knowledge of water policy in Ireland, including the Water Framework Directive, integrated catchment management and national and European environmental and water legislation.
• Technical knowledge of hydraulic, hydrodynamic, dispersion & water quality modelling including demonstrated experience of model build, calibration and validation processes and scenarios analyses using 1D, 2D and 3D modelling tools.
• Experience in scoping, management and delivery of water quality modelling studies for a range of size scales in freshwater, transitional and coastal environments, including scoping survey and monitoring campaigns for modelling studies.
• Understanding of potential climate change impacts on water supply projections.
• Strong technical knowledge of, and experience in, the use of water resource modelling tools.
• Strong optioneering, analysis and decision-making skills.
• Manage resources to meet project goals.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to disseminate technical findings to internal and external stakeholders and regulators.
• Ability to liaise with technical experts to secure buy-in to assessment approaches.
• Excellent communications skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills for internal and external stakeholder engagement.
• Excellent IT skills to navigate internal intranet packages and software
