RPS Water has extensive experience and an enviable reputation within the UK water industry as the leading provider of clean and waste water support services. We work together with all UK water companies to deliver cost efficient results through the strategic planning and management of water services.

As part of our continued success we are inviting interest from experienced Land Surveyors to operate on an existing contract from our Clevedon Office.

The Land Surveyor will have full responsibility for the successful execution and delivery of multiple projects to clients throughout the South West of England. The role will require liaising with clients existing and new, various discipline departmental managers within RPS and reporting directly to the Geomatics Operations Manager. The Land Surveyor will actively support the surveying teams in conducting topographical surveys, measured building surveys and hydrographic surveys.

The successful candidate will have good communication and interpersonal skills. They are to be a forward thinking, solutions led person and be prepared to go the extra mile to ensure deadlines are met.

It is essential that the successful candidate possesses a proven track record of relevant previous employment and surveying and project management experience, this should be demonstrated by experience of:

• Ensuring work is delivered to industry leading Health and Safety processes and the production of RAMS
• The undertaking and delivery of a wide range of site surveying projects satisfying client KPI’s
• Leading and mentoring surveyors in an operational environment
• Development and training of staff to gain professional accreditations
• Supporting business development and strategic business plan activities
• The understanding and delivery of cost control measures and working to agreed programmes
• Ensuring effective communication and reporting processes are in place with clients, the public and work colleagues
• Aligning behaviour with company values
• Delivery of significant projects with values in excess of £1m


The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the below job tasks:

• Proven leadership and management success
• Excellent collaboration, negotiation and presentation skills
• Project administration
• Client liaison & resource allocation
• Management of survey teams
• Quality assurance of survey deliverables
• Land Surveys, to aid with construction work
• Measured Building Surveys (MBS) to determine necessary alterations and repairs.
• 3D laser scanning
• Hydrographic surveys, reservoir monitoring
• UAV surveys
• Preparation of DTM’s
• Production of survey plans and section drawings
• Working in AutoCAD and SCC producing 2D and 3D Models


Al the above tasks relate to:

• Topographical Surveys; surveying, measuring and describing land surfaces to establish property boundaries and to aid with construction or cartographic work
• Measured Building Surveys; surveying buildings to determine necessary alterations and repairs
• Hydrographic Surveys; measuring shore lines, elevations and underwater contours, establishing high and low water marks, plotting shore features and defines navigable channels.

The successful candidate should also possess the following qualifications / technical skills:

• Minimum of a degree qualification in a Surveying / Geospatial subject
• Expert user of Trimble Business Centre and the suite of Trimble equipment (including Total Stations, laser scanners and GPS)
• Expert user of AutoCAD & LDD
• Competent in laser scan and point cloud registration / creation
• Expert user in GIS software
• Experience / understanding of Utility Surveys
• Experience / understanding of Inland Hydrographic Surveys
• Experience / understanding of Aerial Surveys
• Advanced user of the Microsoft Office suite of applications
• Drivers Licence

Salary range: £24,000.00 to £32,110.00per annum

Location: Clevedon
