Soil Sampling Technician
Various locations in ROI including Westmeath, Offaly, Roscommon, Galway, Meath and Kildare
Hours: Flexible but typically between 8.00 am – 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday
Dates: Typically a 6-9 week contract
Flexible options available for the right candidates
Various start dates (mid-July through to mid-September)
Salary: Starting at €19,100 FTE (dependant on qualifications) plus travel expenses
Accommodation: Shared accommodation provided, if and when required
No of Posts: Various number of full time and part-time posts available
Full time: To be considered you need to be able to work 5 days a week on this project
Part time: To be considered you need to be able to work at least 2 days a week on this project

Here at RPS, we are now accepting applications for a number of highly motivated team players to supplement our environmental monitoring team. We are recruiting: Soil Sampling Technicians - You will be working as a member of a large RPS team collecting soil samples in lands farms throughout the north Midlands region of Ireland. The soil samples will be taken with a soil auger and you will also use a GPS to record spatial data. Work will be site based. Full training, support and personal protective equipment will be provided for the right candidates.

Job Requirements & Responsibilities:
Strong work ethic and outstanding
• Professionally represent RPS.
• Participate in various team training events in use of soil auger and GPS etc.
• Responsible for proper sampling as per training instructions.
• Respect and care for land-owner’s properties.
• Ability to take direction from team leader.
Attention to detail, accuracy, ability to locate information and use GPS
• Read maps and take orders and instructions.
• Perform precise protocol in extracting soil sample with soil auger.
• Bag and label soil sample as per training instructions.
Organisation, time management skills
with self-initiative
• Work independently and as part of a two person team performing daily workload efficiently.
• Communicate daily with RPS team leader.
• Make daily preparations for next day following end of day and beginning of day protocol for work orders and all equipment maintenance.
• Good time-keeping and ability to meet deadlines
Good communication and team work skills
• Politely and effectively communicate with land-owners if required.
• Support other team members.
• Communicate effectively with RPS project manager as and when required.

Essential Criteria:
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Minimum qualification at Leaving Cert in Honours level geography or agricultural science or related subject.
• An interest in agriculture or the environment.

Desirable Criteria:
• A full driving licence is preferable.
• Knowledge of geology, earth science or environmental science required, preferably currently enrolled and completing in a university degree course.
