Position: Part Time Strategic Marketing Director (Planning, Development, Environment)
Based: Abingdon
Reports to: Divisional CEO & Group Marketing Director
Hours: 2 days per week/eqv.

RPS has a new vacancy for a Strategic Marketing Director to manage a team of 4 based at our Head Office in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. You will be working with our Consulting Division who offer a variety of services relating to the planning and development of the built and natural environment.

As the Strategic Marketing Director, you will be accountable for developing, executing and communicating our go-to-market strategy for RPS’ Consulting business segment in the UK and Ireland. As a member of both the business segment and the group marketing senior leadership team, it is expected that you’ll develop a marketing strategy that is nested to our group strategic goals. This plan should articulate our competitive position, align with the Consulting segment’s business priorities and map to targeted opportunities to grow the RPS brand and profile to support the growth and delivery of financial targets.

In addition to focusing on the strategic position for our Consulting business segment, you will also be required to develop tactical solutions to meet the needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic marketing
• Communicate RPS’ competitive advantage relevant to the local operating environment to support the delivery of the Consulting business segment financial targets, objectives and global priorities.
• Work with the business to develop and execute an annual Consulting business segment marketing and communications strategy, aligned with the Group Marketing strategy.
• Enable tactical regional marketing strategies taking market and non-market considerations, financial targets and client strategies into account.

Brand strategy
• Work closely with the Group Marketing Director to develop and communicate our brand narrative aligned to all nine elements of our brand matrix and RPS tone of voice.
• Connect the Consulting business segment to the Group to strengthen our brand through consistent messaging and connected stories.

Content marketing and integrated communications
• Develop integrated, market aligned content plans for distribution across traditional and digital platforms.
• Develop communication collateral (such as capability statements, project case studies, media releases / announcements and industry briefings).
• Develop market positioning narratives using insights and research at the local level and aligned to the group.
• Penetrate the market with on-message and connected stories using digital and traditional platforms.

Profile and reputation
• Enhance and protect the firm’s reputation by defining and prioritising communication opportunities around key industry issues and thought leadership priorities.
• Use the power of content generated to inform and strengthen internal and external stakeholder relations that reinforce our strategic priority to build an internationally respected brand.

Stakeholder engagement
• Develop targeted key stakeholder maps and engagement programs to inform and drive brand positioning.
• Build partnerships to support and mobilise regional key influencers, with proven expertise in coordinating and managing large scale events such as industry briefings, marketing campaigns and product launches.

Budget
• Identify and track local marketing spend (initiatives and resources) and provide monthly update reports to Global Marketing Director.

Skills and expertise required:
• Extensive senior-level marketing experience in building brand narratives, creating integrated communication plans and commercially savvy execution strategies within a professional services environment.
• Have, or be pursuing, a professional or post-graduate qualification in marketing and /or communications.
• Deep understanding of local operating environments and relevant industries / sectors.
• Experience in developing and implementing strategic marketing plans that have proven business improvement outcomes aligned to support the delivery of RPS’ global goals.
• Demonstrated ability to nurture effective and engaging relationships with key stakeholders and business influencers.
• An ability to engage employees in company-wide priorities through effective collaboration harnessing multiple channels of communication both internally and externally.
• Excellent attention to detail, strong project management, organisational and time management skills.
