CONTRACT STATUS: Specific Purpose




RPS is seeking highly motivated Engineers and Technicians to join our water services team for office and field-based roles in the Dublin and Cork regions. The successful candidates will support the delivery of Connections and Developer Services (CDS) for the water industry.

The role of CDS is to act as a point of contact for customers for the provision of connections to the water and wastewater networks. The core function of the CDS team is to:-


• Support pre-connection enquiry process
• Support delivery of project works services agreements
• Support delivery of connection agreements
• Design review of development against codes of practice and standard details.
• Prepare concept and detailed designs for developing connections.
• Undertake site inspections
• Support the management of the diversions process including site inspections
• Support the management of planning observation reports


The successful candidates will be required to quickly develop strong knowledge of water connections and developer services governance procedures.


The minimum requirements for each role are:-

Connections Assessment Engineer (office based) should have a relevant engineering degree and minimum 2 years post qualification relevant experience in the water industry or other utilities.

Connections Assessment Technician (office based) should have a relevant qualification and a minimum 2 years post qualification experience in the water industry or other utilities.

Connections Field Engineer (field based) who should have a relevant engineering degree and minimum 3 years post qualification relevant experience in the water industry or other utilities.

Connections Inspection Technician (field based) who should have a minimum of 3 years relevant experience in water industry or other utilities



Desirable skills for the roles

• Technical knowledge of water and wastewater networks and treatment
• Excellent communications skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills for internal and external stakeholder engagement.
• Excellent IT skills to navigate internal intranet packages and software
• Good knowledge of procurement.
• Experience in report preparation.
• Strong knowledge of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013.
• Site inspection experience.
