Senior or Principal Ecologist

Position: Senior/Principal Ecologist
Location: Edinburgh
Type: Permanent

About the Role:

We are looking for a Principal or Senior Ecologist to win and coordinate a wide range of project tasks. You will undertake more general ecological appraisals, protected species surveys, mitigation design and construction and post-construction supervision and monitoring.

You will be responsible for the management of your project work including your own technical assessments and reporting outputs, together with establishing and the maintaining ongoing client relationships and coordinating larger project survey requirements. The role could be either full or part time and will be a combination of office and field work.

Key responsibilities:

• Take on and independently undertake a wide range of project tasks as and when required
• Provide general ecological appraisals, protected species surveys, mitigation design and construction and post-construction supervision and monitoring
• Managing project work within the office, particularly technical assessments and reporting outputs; Establishing and the maintaining ongoing client relationships

Skills/expertise required:

• Educated to degree level in a relevant subject
• CIEEM membership (Associate / Full)
• Previous experience of working in a consultancy business
• Well established ecological consultant with bat and/or ornithology experience
• Ability to plan and undertake habitat surveys to a high standard and to identify indicator plant species and habitat types
• Full knowledge of UK and EU Wildlife Legislation and best practice survey techniques
• Full driving licence.
