RPS is a leading Planning consultancy in the UK and Ireland, with over 20 years of demonstrable track record. As a leading discipline within the business, our town planners have the skills and experience to navigate through complex planning and environmental legislation and they have been relied upon by clients to provide innovative approaches to obtaining planning consents for all types of development.

To capitalise on the continued growth of our planning business we are seeking to hire a Planning Director, whose remit will be to contribute to the development of our Scottish consultancy team.

Operating out of our Edinburgh and/or Glasgow offices, you will be responsible for driving the business forward by winning new clients and delivering exciting projects, making the most of your extensive network of contacts.

With deep expertise within planning at a senior level, you will have the responsibility and autonomy to develop the team and deliver planning permissions and other consents to support the development of all forms of property and infrastructure.

To assist you in successfully fulfilling your role, you will be given the tools you need to succeed, and you will benefit from the support of our other local specialists in environmental impact assessment, ecology, heritage, transport, contaminated land and the marine environment.

Main responsibilities for the Planning Director role are:
• Responsible for the management and growth of the planning team
• Responsible for the delivery of expert planning advice
• Manage projects to a high standard within the client’s timescales and budgets
• Work alongside other environmental and multi-disciplinary technical specialists to ensure project delivery and cross sell of skills within the division
• To actively identify and deliver new business opportunities, alongside enhancing existing client relationships

Skills, Experience & Qualifications required
• In depth experience in planning law and consenting processes under the Planning Acts
• Experience of managing EIA’s and related specialist disciplines
• Proven track record in the management and co-ordination of major development projects
• Full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute
• Experience in major infrastructure, ideally in the energy sector (although experience in other sectors would also be advantageous)
• Hold an appropriate planning or environmental degree
