SHE Advisor - Scientific background

We are seeking to appoint a science professional who has SHE based experience, or indeed is looking to expand their skills into the SHE discipline.

The role will see you being based in Cambridge on one site, working alongside a wider SHE team to deliver an effective Health, Safety and Environmental advisory service. Supporting the transition of pharmaceutical Research and Development activities into the new build.

As part of the SHE team you will be providing advice and guidance to diverse project stakeholders including designers, facilities managers, scientists, project engineers and third-party facility suppliers.

Main responsibilities:
• Take the lead on SHE advice for stakeholders to support safe science
• Work with stakeholders to understand the risks associated with occupation of laboratory areas, and to facilitate the risk assessment process
• Work with the team to develop the SHE assurance framework
• Provide technical expertise to Project Risk Assessments and contribute to closing out actions
• Contribute to Assurance audits
• Provide technical support to science licences and permit

Qualifications and skills required:
• Degree held in a science related subject
• Previous experience within bioscience, science or pharmaceutical environment
• Complex knowledge of science construction projects, with experience of being the interface between client and contractor
• Knowledge of relevant legislation/development in the areas of Safety, Health and Environment
• Experience of audit and assurance
• Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
