About the Role
We are looking for an Assistant Building Surveyor to join the thriving and successful team in our Manchester office. A typical day in the life of our Building Surveying teams would include:
• Advising a renowned leisure operator on their national expansion & portfolio
• Strategic & commercial dilapidations advice on a range of properties
• Acting as Party Wall Surveyor
• Training aimed at continually improving our technical and client care skill set
• Providing investment advice on acquisitions or refinancing ventures
• Negotiating lease agreements and specifications on behalf of landlords and tenants
• Providing strategic advice on Planned Maintenance
• Diagnosing building defects and providing viable solutions
• Administering a range of JCT Building Contracts
• Assessing, specifying and implementing packages of works to existing buildings

About You
Ideally you will already have built up valuable commercial Building Surveying experience and are preparing to sit your Final Assessment in either Session 1 or 2, 2019, or beyond, dependant on experience. You must hold a Building Surveying degree or Masters degree. Training will be provided along with guidance on the final stages of your APC qualification. Suitable candidates will have excellent time management skills, be well organised, enjoy attention to detail and be able to demonstrate a proven capability in report writing. You must have superb communication skills and be confident using typical IT packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook. An understanding of the traditional procurement stages and processes is also required as well as a basic/foundation knowledge of core Building Surveying. You should possess a good level of common sense and be able to think practicably and strategically in terms of managing your day job, work-life balance and our clients’ interests.

The successful applicant would be based in our thriving and diverse Manchester office which occupies a convenient in-town location. The office currently houses between 20-30 staff, all of which are Building Surveyors, Project Managers or Quantity Surveyors. Flexible working is essential in our hot-desking office environment, you can also expect to be out on site for a large proportion of your working week and, as such, a passport, full UK driving licence plus use of a car is essential.
