Town Planner

RPS has been one of the leading Town Planning practices in the UK and Ireland for over 20 years. We have over 100 chartered Town Planners who can provide up to date advice and innovative approaches to obtaining Local Plan allocations, planning permission and other consents for all types of development.

We are successfully delivering planning applications and permissions for some of the UK’s most important strategic development sites and infrastructure projects. Our planners regularly work with the country’s other leading organisations in the development of property and infrastructure and we also provide integrated services drawing on other planning, environmental and design services offered by RPS.

Job Title Town Planner
Location Central London

Main responsibilities
• Assisting with the preparation of site appraisals including:
o planning history searches
o policy analysis
o interpretation and consideration of material considerations
o assessing planning potential and formulating planning strategies
• Preparation of planning applications, notices and CIL forms
• Preparation of applications to discharge planning conditions
• Assisting with the preparation of planning statements to support a range of developments, mainly residential and representations to development plans
• Liaising and negotiating with officers at Local Planning Authorities in both development management and policy
• Supporting the preparation of tenders and fee proposals
• Responding to and liaison with clients and other team members
• Attendance at project meetings
• Speaking at Planning Committee

Education/Skills required
• An RTPI accredited Honours Degree and/or Diploma or Masters Qualification
• Knowledge of development management procedures and policy, including the London plan
• Able to work multi task and have strong organisational skills
• Good analytic and problem-solving abilities
• Strong attention to detail and ability to make correct judgements
• Excellent verbal communication skills and must be able to communicate with both colleagues, clients and Council officers – on the phone and at meetings.
