Senior Town Planner (London)

RPS has been one of the leading Town Planning practices in the UK and Ireland for over 20 years. We have over 100 chartered Town Planners who can provide up to date advice and innovative approaches to obtaining Local Plan allocations, planning permission and other consents for all types of development.

We are successfully delivering planning applications and permissions for some of the UK’s most important strategic development sites and infrastructure projects. Our planners regularly work with the country’s other leading organisations in the development of property and infrastructure and we also provide integrated services drawing on other planning, environmental and design services offered by RPS.

Job outline
Working under the strategic guidance of a Director or Senior Associate/ Associate, a Senior Planner is responsible for managing and overseeing small to medium sized projects from commencement to completion and close out.
Main Responsibilities:
• Coordinate small and medium projects including coordinating project finances, overseeing the production of deliverables in line with the client’s expectations and ensuring delivery is on time
• Ensure that projects are managed to ensure good profitability
• Represent the company at external events as required and directed including those related to professional membership and business development
• Attend team and business development meetings where appropriate
• Aim to achieve utilisation rate target as agreed with the line manager
• Chair Planning Meetings and take a lead role in debates, and ensure their ongoing development through appropriate CPD
• Organise internal CPD sessions as required
• Develop strong client relationships and coordinate responses to their requests for all services provided by RPS
• Complete timesheet every week in a timely manner, help to assist colleagues where they are under pressure to meet clients’ expectations
Qualifications & Experience Required:
• An RTPI accredited Honours Degree and/or Diploma or Masters Qualification
• Preferably a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute
• Previous Town Planning experience
• Working knowledge of a technical discipline including the current methods, legislation, techniques and guidance
• Hold a degree in a relevant industry related subject
• Previous line management responsibility
