Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Up to £23k depending on experience

About RPS Laboratory Services:

RPS Laboratories are part of the RPS Group, an international multi-disciplinary consultancy. We pride ourselves on our high level of customer care and the quality of our varied and diverse services.

We are an ISO 17025 accredited, fast-paced analytical commercial lab. Using state of the art instrumentation, we provide bespoke analytical testing services across a wide-range of different compounds and matrices, including pesticide residues in food and crops and detection of emerging pollutants in water and soil.

We are moving from Letchworth later this year to a brand-new site in Bedford.

The Job:
We have an opening for an enthusiastic, well organised individual to join our Sample Administration team. Working as part of a small team, you will be responsible for overseeing incoming work, reviewing and approving incoming jobs to ensure that client requirements are understood and met. You will be the primary point of contact for clients, developing good relationships and helping to resolve any queries related to work, including providing logistical support to those clients.

Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for overseeing all incoming work, ensuring that all work requests are accompanied by the correct paperwork and client requirements are clearly understood.
• Conduct sample log-in, ensuring that sample information is accurately entered onto the the RPS Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Review and approve all work requests to ensure that jobs are have been logged in as per client requirements and as per RPS Quality Management System requirements.
• Deal directly with clients to resolve any queries with incoming work prior to approving the analysis.
• Acknowledge receipt of client samples, advising them of any changes to the analysis and/or requested timeframes.
• Undertake sub-sampling of received samples and arrange for their transport to sub-contractor laboratories, completing all necessary paperwork.
• Provide logistical support to clients in relation to provision of materiel required by clients for sampling and arranging transport of those samples, including completion of necessary regulatory paperwork, as required.
• Act as the central point of liaison with all clients, keeping them informed of progress of their work and informing them of any issues.

The skills/experience you will need are:
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrable ability to effectively communicate at various levels within organisations.
• Prior experience in a customer service role, keeping clients informed on the progress of their work.
• A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail is required in this role.
• Experience of working in a fast-paced environment, and an ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
• Have a thorough understanding of Microsoft Office applications.
