The Permitting and Compliance Team are looking for an experienced environmental professional to work within our existing team in delivering a high standard of service across a range of environmental projects. This position is within our existing environmental permitting team who support waste management, conventional and renewable energy, oil and gas and other industrial clients.

The role can be based in either our Bristol, Brighton or Cardiff office, but the candidate may be required to travel to support clients elsewhere in the UK.

The position available is initially for a 12 month fixed contract but with the potential to lead to a permanent role.

Duties / Responsibilities:
• Play a direct role in acquiring environmental permits, licenses, and approvals from regulatory agencies in support of projects
• Manage and supervise permitting support to range of projects delivered by the Environment Permitting and Compliance Team.
• Ensure quality advice is provided and work meets the required standard
• Manage own client projects ensuring key objectives and deadlines are met
• Take responsibility for specific projects, monitoring both performance, finances and feedback
• Quality control the output of projects in accordance with the approved QA system including preparing project plans and fee agreements
• Support and mentor junior members of staff where relevant.

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Direct working experience of environmental regulation, permitting issues and liaising with regulators
• Understanding of pertinent environmental legislation, regulations, and guidance documents to ensure and/or enforce project-specific compliance
• Strong communication (verbal and technical writing) skills.
• Good financial and project management skills
• Ability to build and maintain working relationships both internally and externally
• Ability to identify opportunities for securing new business / clients
• Responsible for contributing towards own professional development
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of BAT
