Job Summary

We are currently recruiting a Technical Director to join our Building & Structures Team in Dublin.
RPS Building & Structures sector provides project management and technical excellence in design, appraisal and construction of residential, commercial, industrial, healthcare and educational buildings for public and private Clients in Ireland and overseas.
The position will be based in our Dun Laoghaire Office.

The Candidate’s Requirements

• Chartered Structural Engineer with more than 15 years’ experience ideally gained in a Consulting Engineering practice(s) in Ireland
• Degree qualified (Level 8)
• Significant experience in consultancy services delivery and contract management
• Extensive experience in undertaking senior design roles across a broad spectrum of structural, commercial and industrial projects
• Proven record of responsibility for the Technical and Commercial Management of projects including the Budgeting and assignment of Resources within fee and profitability limitations
• Demonstrated team leadership experience with capabilities to guide the development of the team in order to maintain a prominent position in the industry and to recognise and respond to the changing needs of the industry
• Technical excellence
• Highly motivated

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a sector, business unit or team
• Manage budgets and meet agreed targets
• Take prime responsibility for developing new business including Client contact, Tender Submissions and Client Interviews
• Implement best practices and comply with all internal systems
• Provide leadership in setting and implementing design (technical) and quality compliance
• Build and maintain personal, unit and team skills

Desired Attributes

• Extensive knowledge of design codes, specifications, legislation and best practices
• A thorough understanding of professional appointments, contractual arrangements, procurement and project management
• Excellent people management skills including management of costs, time and WIP
• Understanding of budgets, profit and loss accounts, and management accounts
• Be capable of leading a wider engineering team
• Excellent communications skills
• Good computer skills
• Experience in project management, contract administration, supervision and monitoring

The execution of the successful candidate’s duties will be supported by the Senior Management Team along with the Marketing, Financial, Quality and Human Resources divisions of RPS.
