About RPS Contaminated Land Team

Our professional team of contaminated land specialists is part of the RPS Group PLC, an international multi-disciplinary consultancy.

We provide comprehensive, commercially focused advice in relation to the assessment and management of contaminated land across a broad range of sectors and project stages; from pre- purchase due diligence advice through to planning applications and to construction phase support. The Team delivers contaminated land solutions for a wide range of clients including residential housebuilders, commercial and renewables developers, nuclear power stations, investors, lenders, local and national government and blue chip international companies.

The Job:

RPS is looking for a Geo-Environmental professional to join our successful contaminated land and ground engineering teams. You will work on projects across the UK and this will include travelling to project sites.

Key Responsibilities:

• The design and implementation ground investigations
• Supervision of ground investigation contractors
• Logging of soils and rock to BS5930
• Scheduling and interpretation of laboratory analysis
• Delivery of geo-environmental risk assessments and development of conceptual site models
• Providing technical expertise to clients, designers and other RPS staff
• Negotiating with regulators and statutory consultees
• Preparation of reports
• Mentoring junior staff


The skills/experience you will need are:
• BSc in earth sciences/environmental/ground engineering discipline
• Full UK Driving License
• Working towards chartered geologist or scientist status.
• Strong report writing and site supervision skills;
• Managing CPD through an appropriate and relevant professional institution
• Ability to manage difficult ground investigations and associate projects
• Excellent technical understanding and solid experience in land contamination and ground engineering projects, particularly in the context of development and infrastructure projects
• A track record in working in a multidisciplinary project environment.
