Geo-environmental Engineer
Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff


We are looking for an experienced ground investigation professional to take a role in the continuing success of our contaminated land operations. The role can be based in our well-established Birmingham, Cardiff or Bristol office and would be part of our geo-environmental team. The position would suit an enthusiastic and organised individual who can work as part of a team and under their own initiative. It would particularly suit a professional that enjoys working on large scale ground investigation projects.

Our team includes geologists, hydrogeologists, environmental scientists and geotechnical engineers and the candidate should have a similar academic background. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates that enjoy and have a proven track record in the delivery of large scale ground investigations.

Key responsibilities of the role:
• Preparing safety documentation including risk assessments, method statements and H&S Plans and working in line with the CDM Regulations
• Liaison with and procurement of ground investigation contractors
• Onsite management and supervision of geotechnical and geo environmental ground investigation contractors.
• Supervision of drilling, trial pitting and in situ testing
• Logging / characterisation of soils and rocks to BS5930
• Completion of daily records and measures
• Factual reporting
• General environmental consultancy support

Whilst the role would be based in our Bristol, Birmingham or Cardiff Office, you will work on projects across the UK.

The skills/experience you will need are:

• BEng / BSc degree in earth science related or geo-environmental/engineering discipline
• Experience in undertaking geotechnical or geo-environmental ground investigations
• Knowledge of preparing ground investigation safety documentation including risk assessments, method statements and H&S Plans and working in line with the CDM Regulations
• Onsite management and supervision of ground investigation contractors.
• Supervision of drilling, trial pitting, in situ testing geotechnical tests and infiltration testing
• Logging / characterisation of soils and rocks to BS5930
• Completion of daily records and measures
• Factual reporting
