Do you want to produce quality designs that are an essential element of our multi-disciplined client solutions…? If so, we have the perfect role for you!

About the Role
We are looking for an ambitious Trainee Mechanical Engineer to join our successful Building Services Team in Wolverhampton as a Technician Apprentice. The role will involve working on the design of varied construction and refurbishment projects in differing sectors and of various sizes, giving the selected candidate the opportunity to learn the differing design and decision making processes that go into delivering first class building services designs. You will learn how to operate throughout all stages of a project and be involved in the input of ideas and calculations using the latest software (AutoCAD and Revit drawing packages) and traditional design techniques.

The role will be mainly office based, however there will be the opportunity to visit sites to survey and monitor progress of the design delivery throughout the country. The successful candidate will be trained to design mechanical systems on varied projects and sectors and will be expected to be able to work in an office environment.

About You
Suitable candidates will possess GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language, Mathematics and Physics. Good interpersonal skills are essential as the role will involve a lot of interaction, not only between other members of our internal teams but also with other members of the design and construction teams from other companies throughout the UK and internationally. A flexible attitude to work would be preferred as occasionally long hours are needed to ensure our clients and colleagues can work to meet deadlines or travel to and from sites and meetings in other locations. An outgoing and enquiring personality would be good too!

Anticipated government targets for renewable energy and reduction in running costs means that Building Services Engineers will play a very important role in delivering and advising architects and planners going forwards. Therefore an interest in Building Services or indeed any post GCSE Building Services technician based qualification would be advantageous.

This role is predominantly office based and the office is walking distance from Wolverhampton city centre. 1 day per week will be at Dudley College. We would look for candidates to live within easy commuting distance of the office (max 1 hour journey preferred).
