Senior or Principal Marine Environmental Consultant
London, Woking


In the marine and coastal environment, RPS provides services to the offshore renewables (offshore wind, wave and tidal energy), oil & gas, power generation (nuclear, gas, biomass, CHP), transmission infrastructure, ports & harbours and public sector markets.

RPS has a strong reputation for the provision of high quality, expert advice to its clients. To service our existing contracts in the Offshore Renewables and Power Generation Sectors, and due to increasing project work, RPS is looking to recruit a Senior or Principal Marine Environmental Consultant

This role will see you working on larger marine and costal infrastructure projects, based from Woking or London (other RPS office locations considered for the right candidate)

You will have prior experience in:
• Site and route selection and constraints analysis
• EIA coordination and delivery
• Technical review of reports and quality assurance of deliverables
• Support on associated assessments e.g. Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA), Water Framework Directive (WFD), European Protected Species (EPS) and Marine Conservation Zone (MCZ)
• Of contributing to and or leading marine EIA’s internationally
• Provision of marine and environmental consenting and planning advice
• Involvement in stakeholder meetings and preparation of materials to support external consultation, including the Evidence Plan Process and Examination Phase of DCO projects
• Of monitoring programmes and discharging Marine Licence conditions and DCO requirements
• Direct experience, or at least familiarity with, the requirements of the Planning Act 2008 and the DCO process in England and Wales
• Understanding of the HRA process and other consent related assessments e.g. WFD, EPS, MCZ
• Ideally some experience in marine or coastal projects in at least one of RPS’s core sectors or demonstrably transferrable experience from other sectors.
• Managing and mentoring of team members

Coupled with the above we are seeking you to have a MSc or other post-graduate qualification in a related environmental area (particularly EIA or environmental management). Be a member of a relevant professional institute.
