Laboratory Analyst
Ellesmere Port

Job Title Laboratory Analyst
Location Ellesmere Port
Term 3 months
Hours 8am-4pm

Main Responsibilities
• Conduct chemical and biochemical analysis on samples of biological specimens using manual and automated instrumentation
• Prepare standards and controls
• Analyse and report external quality assurance specimens
• Maintain instruments in a suitable and efficient condition
• Maintain clinical records in an easily retrievable form using dedicated databases and paper records
• Ensure that patient medical details remain confidential
• To participate in both external and internal training as deemed necessary
• To undertake urine drugs and alcohol collection
• Produce reports for clinical staff and clients, using standard software packages
• Liaise with customers to resolve any concerns
• To undertake medical screening tests such as height weight urinalysis and phlebotomy as part of a team supporting the company clinical staff
• Work in such a manner that has due regard for one’s own health and safety and the health and safety of others
• Comply with all health safety and environmental legislation
• Undertake internal audits as part of the laboratory audit team

Required Skills/Qualifications
• Previous experience in an analytical laboratory is essential
• Qualified to degree level in a chemical or biological science
• Experience within Blood, Drug & Alcohol or heavy metals analysis would be advantageous
• Competent with the complete Microsoft office package, as well as being computer literate
• Ability to work as part of a team
• An understanding of health and safety in a laboratory setting
