Hydrogeologist

JOB TITLE: Hydrogeologist
REPORT TO: Technical Director
LOCATION: Dun Laoghaire, Dublin

RPS is seeking a suitable candidate for a Hydrogeologist role for our office in Dun Laoghaire, Dublin. The position will be based in Dublin with a mixture of office and field based work, there will also be opportunities for short term trips overseas, primarily to Europe and Africa.

RPS work on a variety of both domestic and international projects. Our Irish projects include environmental impact assessments, water supply, water framework directive related projects, abstraction/discharge permitting and landfill assessments. Our international projects are primarily for mining clients based in Europe and Africa, typically working on water supply, mine dewatering/depressurisation, surface water management, water balance studies and overall site wide water management.

The position will include the following tasks:
• Execute and supervise hydrogeological field investigation programmes
• Collect, compile and present hydrogeological data
• Accurately perform data assessment and analysis applying standard methods
• Communication with clients and sub-contractors
• Assist with the preparation of proposals
• Project management
• Reporting

The candidate’s experience should include:
• 1-5 years of experience in Hydrogeology
• BSc in Geology or related Earth Science
• MSc degree in Hydrogeology (strongly desirable)
• Experience in development and management of groundwater and surface water monitoring programmes (desirable)
• Knowledge of numerical groundwater modelling (desirable)
• Technical report writing and presentation
• A full clean driver’s licence

The candidate should have:
• A sound technical foundation in hydrogeology and geology
• Good time management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Confident and flexible attitude to office-based and field-based work assignments
• Ability to work in teams
• Proficiency in MS Office
