Network Engineer (Leakage Management) - Yorkshire Region

Network Engineer – Leakage Management – Water Utilities
Salary – Competitive, dependant on skills and experience, 24 days annual leave, plus company car or car allowance, company share incentive plan and pension scheme.

Contract Type – Fixed term, initially March 2019
Location –Yorkshire region

RPS wishes to recruit a team of Network Engineers to work on our Yorkshire Water contract. The role will form part of the clients Water Distribution Maintenance Team which is responsible for Leakage Management. The role will involve investigation of distribution management areas (DMA’s) whose night flows indicate excess levels of Unaccounted for Water (UFW) and have been historically problematic to resolve through the traditional detection process.

Training will be provided on local corporate reporting software and guidance on existing processes will be supported by experienced engineers currently engaged on the work.

Travel will be required; therefore a full driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to the following:

• Undertaking detailed desktop investigations on select DMAs, displaying an understanding of customers legitimate consumptions vs UFW
• Formulating strategies to best target leakage detection activities
• Interrogation of corporate reporting systems, updating and aligning where necessary
• Undertaking field investigation activities proving expected network operations
• Supporting field operational teams in their target deliverables about local UFW reduction
• Submitting solutions for optimising network operations and capital investment programmes
• Deploying field monitoring equipment to capture relevant flow and pressure data at relevant locations across the distribution network
• Processing data captured during all field investigation and interpreting the results
• Attending client’s regular performance meetings and providing detailed commentary on completed and planned works
• Archiving results and conclusions

We are looking for an individual with the following attributes:

• Strong Health and Safety awareness
• 5+ years relevant industry experience
• A sound understanding of the design and operation principles of potable water distribution networks
• Ability to interpret and understand water network schematics and plans
• Strong numerical skills
• Excellent data analysis, interpretation and manipulation skills
• Excellent report writing and communication skills
• Proficient knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel
• A determined and logical approach to problem solving

• Project management skills
• Experience of regulatory corporate reporting systems eg WaterNet, Netbase
• Experience of client interfacing and liaison with operational staff
• Knowledge of water companies Serviceability measures and Performance Commitments
