Process Performance Analyst – Leakage Management – Water Utilities

Process Performance Analyst – Leakage Management – Water Utilities

RPS Water wishes to recruit a Process Performance Analyst (PPA) to work on our Yorkshire Water contract. The role will form part of the clients Leakage Planning and Compliance Team which is responsible for Leakage Management.

Leakage reduction is a key objective for our client and this role is an important component of its achievement.

Yorkshire Water’s distribution assets are divided into smaller units, each with a flow meter which is permanently measured, these units are known as distribution management areas (DMA’s) and are used to derive leakage levels through the use of a proprietary software package called Netbase.

When leakage in a particular area is recognised a works order is created for a team of leakage engineers to locate the leakage, upon successful location the leak is then repaired.

Reporting to the Network Optimisation Manager the purpose of the PPA is to contribute in achieving the local Leakage Ownership targets, through:

• Managing the flow of work to leakage field teams by undertaking continual assessment and prioritisation of leakage information.
• Managing the NetBase Detection Campaigns module, promoting relevant activity to field and assuring the outcome of individual campaigns.
• Ensuring that data is managed and updated.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake detailed analysis of leakage data in NetBase to determine short, medium and long term performance of DMAs and identify errors and anomalies.
• Provide a workbasket for leakage field teams which is optimised across ownership areas to deliver maximum benefit to leakage performance.
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve leakage and data maintenance processes, considering innovations available. Present recommendations and take ownership of the implementation.
• Close the loop on the leakage process, ensuring relevant information is fed back into corporate systems.
• Provide timely Management Information Reports on leakage performance and activity.
• Build good relationships and communication links with Data team, Leakage Field, Service Partners, Operational Asset Management, Field Delivery.
• Able to present a thorough audit trail through the YW corporate systems to support accurate reporting.
• Develop thorough knowledge of area, but be flexible to support other areas as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Personal Attributes

Technical Skills & Experience
• Experience of compiling, analysing and interpreting data
• Problem solving and numerate capability is essential
• NetBase or other modelling software (or similar) experience
• Microsoft suite, particular ability to compile and report data in Excel is essential
• Process understanding & modelling tool experience e.g. Aris or Visio is desirable
• An understanding of water network hydraulics and leakage calculation is desirable
• SAP promotion and reporting experience is advantageous
• Knowledge of corporate systems such as GIS, EDMS schematics, Odyssey, Yorbill

Education, Qualifications / Training

• Qualification to a HND level in a numerate discipline or equivalent relevant experience

Training will be provided on local corporate reporting software and guidance on existing processes will be supported by experienced analysts currently engaged on the work.

The post would ideally suit a recent engineering graduate who is ambitious and wishing to start their career in the utility services and asset management industry.

Travel will be required; therefore a full driving licence is essential.
